Every woman experiences pregnancy differently. One woman may feel early pregnancy symptoms immediately, while another may not notice anything for months. Believe it or not, it is possible to be pregnant and not know it.
If you are wondering if you are pregnant, come to HopePlace and find out. Schedule an appointment for a free, confidential pregnancy test.
What Are the Early Pregnancy Symptoms?
Although extremely rare, some women go almost the whole nine months without realizing they are pregnant. They head to the ER with stomach cramps only to find out they’re giving birth! There’s even a name for it – a “cryptic” pregnancy.
For most women, though, these are some of the early pregnancy symptoms:
- A missed period is the first sign women usually notice.
- Tender, swollen breasts.
- Nausea with or without vomiting.
- Increased urination.
- Fatigue.
What’s My First Step?
Start by taking a pregnancy test. You can either purchase an over-the-counter test at a local pharmacy or come to HopePlace for a free pregnancy test.
When a woman becomes pregnant, she produces a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). As this hormone builds, it eventually enters her urine and bloodstream. A urine pregnancy test gives faster results, but a blood test is more accurate.
False test results are possible. If you purchase an at-home test, follow the instructions carefully:
- Check the expiration date.
- Wait until the first day after your missed period to take the test.
- Take it in the morning when your urine is the most concentrated.
- Check the results after the recommended amount of time.
- Retest in 3 to 5 days to ensure the results are correct.
If you are experiencing any pregnancy symptoms, but your pregnancy test is negative, you will want to test again.
We may be able to provide a referral for a free ultrasound and cover the cost of transportation if your pregnancy test is positive. An ultrasound confirms if you are pregnant. It determines if you have a viable (growing) pregnancy, the pregnancy’s location, and how far along you are.
We can even cover the cost of transportation to a free ultrasound if necessary.
